INTERNSHIPS / SERVICE-LEARNING OPENINGS

**All TMC Internships may be performed remotely.**

TMC conducts a Service-learning Program in which college-level service-learners learn to both manage the organization and deliver services to our high school clients. Through a comprehensive online teaching and learning model, TMC integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection, enriching the learning experience; teaching civic responsibility; and advancing the organization’s mission to provide literary and creative arts education and one-to-one E-mentoring to Massachusetts students. TMC Service-learners assume front-line positions including, but not limited to: Accounting Manager, Communications Specialist, Advertising Manager, Editorial Mentor, among other vital roles. Through TMC’s Service-learning Program, young people gain access to the range of supports, opportunities and hands-on experiences, which they need to develop into skilled and thoughtful workers.

Editorial Mentor (Multiple Openings)

Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled in college
  • English/Creative Writing majors preferred

Duties:

  • Organizing, reading and critiquing student literature submissions
  • Copyediting
  • Database Management
  • Print and web publishing
  • Editorial e-Mentoring

Art Juror Internship (Multiple Openings)

Requirements:

  • Current enrollment in college preferred
  • Art majors preferred

Duties:

  • Organizing, viewing, and critiquing student art (drawing, painting, and photography) submissions
  • Database Management
  • Print and web publishing
  • Editorial mentoring

Community Relations Internship (Multiple Openings)

Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled in college
  • Communications/Marketing/nonprofit management majors preferred
  • Ability to work independently and meet goals
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Previous experience in sales/fundraising preferred

Duties:

  • Assist in the development of targeted marketing lists
  • Sell advertising space
  • Sell magazine subscriptions
  • Institute major sponsorship program 
  • Generate and maintain clientele relations
  • Assist in the development and writing of donor correspondence, electronic and print materials, direct mail solicitations and annual report

Communication Internship (Multiple Openings)

Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled in college
  • Communications/marketing/public relations majors preferred

Duties:

  • Act as community and media liaison
  • Generate and maintain clientele relations
  • Compose and distribute press releases
  • Develop and maintain social media sites

Grant Writing Internship (Multiple Openings)

Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled in college
  • Communications/writing/nonprofit management majors preferred
  • Previous experience developing and/or reviewing grant proposals preferred 

Duties:

  • Provide strategic support to the Communications Team
  • Conduct grant research and solicitation
  • Compose and distribute grant proposals
  • Copyedit grant proposals

Event Planning Internship (Multiple Openings)

Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled in college
  • Communications/marketing/hospitality majors preferred
  • Ability to work independently and meet goals
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Previous experience in fundraising/event planning preferred

Duties:

  • Assist in the coordination, management and fulfillment for event sponsors, on-site exhibitors, and sponsored events
  • Help develop and implement a creative and proactive marketing plan and social media outreach plan for a conference
  • Assist with the coordination, management, and completion of evaluation process both onsite and post-event
  • Support communication, social media, and outreach efforts, as well as the development design, and content of event website.

Accounting Internship (One Opening per Semester)

Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled in college
  • Accounting/Bookkeeping/Business majors preferred
  • Ability to work independently and meet goals
  • Familiarity with preparation of budgets and Quickbooks accounting software preferred.

Duties:

  • Book keeping
  • Bank reconciliation
  • Data entry
  • Financial report design and preparation
  • Assist with administrative tasks

Student Advisory Board Chair (One Opening per Semester)

Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled in college
  • Human Resources/Management/Communications majors preferred
  • Ability to work independently and meet goals
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Previous experience in management preferred
  • Familiarity with online message boards and social media

Duties:

  • Promote and advertise the Student Advisory Board.
  • Interview and hire student advisors.
  • Manage the Student Advisory Board, comprised of 10-15 members.
  • Organize bimonthly online meetings: prepare discussion goals and agendas, and facilitate meetings.
  • Develop an action plan through which Student Advisory Board semester goals will be executed.
  • Understand The Marble Collection’s programs to best facilitate the efforts of the board.
  • Assist with community and partnership outreach.
  • Develop and maintain alumni and organization networks.

Board Openings  

Advisory "Working" Committee (Multiple Openings)

Ideal candidates will advise and mentor the current board and staff, engage in fundraising efforts, support strategic planning, and serve as public ambassadors for the organization. Members will be essential contributors, committed to enabling TMC to achieve its mission, realize its potential, and fulfill its obligations to supporters and partners.

TMC is looking for individuals that exemplify any of the below qualifications:

  • Successfully growing a business from start-up
  • Familiarity with funding growth
  • Prior board experience (corporate, advisory or nonprofit board)
  • Secondary education and/or curriculum development skills
  • Public relations and marketing know-how
  • Fundraising, sales, and/or grant writing skill
  • Publishing and/or digital media expertise
  • Management and operations experience
  • Community leadership
  • Writers/journalists
  • Working artists

If both TMC and the candidate wish to move forward the candidate will be invited to meet with the Founder and a few members of the current board of directors. 


Student Advisory Board (Multiple Openings)

We are currently seeking 10-12 passionate students interested in becoming more involved with The Marble Collection. Ideal candidates will use their creativity to expand awareness of the organization among their peers, work as a group to develop suggestions for improvement to the publication, and engage directly with individuals who are interested in being published. Members will be essential contributors, committed to enabling TMC to achieve its mission, realize its potential, and fulfill its obligations to supporters and partners.

TMC is looking for students that exemplify any of the below qualifications:

  • Drive to make a difference
  • Positive teamwork ethic
  • Passion for creative writing, visual art, video, or music
  • Familiarity with online message boards and/or social media
  • Ability to effectively achieve goals under limited supervision

The Student Advisory Board Statement of Roles and Responsibilities:

  • The Student Advisory Board will be comprised of 10-15 members.
  • Advisors will serve for a semester at a time, with the possibility for extension.
  • Online chat sessions will be held twice a month. Attendance is mandatory, with the exception of 3 documented absences per semester.
  • Each advisor will create a profile and upload a BIO to Huddle.
  • Advisors should routinely check their TMC email, SAB Facebook page, and Huddle to see if they can be of assistance to any interested individuals.
